To put it in perspective, most of the modern Rolex movements also run at 28.8k which is about 8 beats per second (the older ones run at 21.6k or 19.8k). It gives the seconds hand a nice sweep vs. the "tick, tick, tick" of a quartz watch. The ETA 2893-2 in my Ocean Forty-Four is also 28.8k and if you listen real closely it sounds like "tickticktickticktick"
