Also, I know medical bills are out of control but $127k? I had a pretty extensive surgery to fix a broken nose about 10 years ago and it cost our insurance company about $10k. :dunno: Whole situation still seems weird to me.
It's because insurance companies are dumb.
"I broke my arm at my sister's house, please pay for my medical bills."
Insurance company: "Oh, that might be negligence, we're not going to pay until a court says it's not."
Court: "Insurance companies can't be named in lawsuits, because lawsuits are supposed to be about ultimate responsibility not, ability to pay"
Aunt: "So I gotta sue my nephew, be told he's not negligent, then my insurance company will pay?"
Insurance Company and Court: "Yup."
