Those are both awesome loops. If you go with the 614 one you miss some great mountain sections right out of Monterey. Be watchful on this cruise for police. Monterey is notorious. Have radios and communicate or something. Because the roads are totally worth it to properly "enjoy." "Headwaters" is where the cops got the group of supercars from Nova last yearish.
Fantastic loop. I was the old fart that lead the one other time it was done. Plan 3 hours or so plus photo ops and ice cream stops. Super fond memory. Be safe!
