At this point in its 20 year old life the OE front, bottom spring isolator is probably the thickness of three sheets of copy paper...just reinstall it. If you deem it necessary, shave it down with some coarse sandpaper. Never understood why people took them off anyway, they're on the car for a reason.
Whatever you do...don't "grease the hell" out of it. That will just get messy and attract dirt/road junk.
