Eh I mean there are some exterior camera solutions that are reasonably priced, HD, wide angle, night vision that would be just fine for home use, it's really just the logistics of the installation that are throwing me off right now. Especially for a townhome. Having an exterior GFI plug in for a camera just doesn't make sense to me from a security standpoint, you definitely should hardwire it and not leave any exposed wires. The trick is that you then have to run all of the video cables directly to a DVR unit. Wireless options exist but I keep seeing that the quality and ease of accessibility to the video feed is pretty rough in most cases.
The next house I buy if we decide to build new, I will probably prewire the house for exterior security cameras before close-in.
