The true travesty is what's happened to pretty much the whole line of cars from Lotus and Subaru. Talk about going on that "dreamer bulk" and losing sight of where you came from.

Just about every model car that has been in uninterrupted production for the last 20 years (let alone 50) has seen an increase in curb weight due to additional safety equipment, greater presence of power accessories, larger wheel/tire/brake combos, bigger engines, more complicated OBD systems, etc. The Mustang is undoubtedly heavier than it was back in '64, the Foxbody 80's/90's or even the New Edge 2000's...but it still epitomizes the long hood/short deck, 2-door, RWD, V8 powered, 4-seat, pony car with a modest curb weight when compared to other performance cars in its segment. The Camaro is heavy compared to Fords offering. The Challenger is a four door land yacht that's had two of its doors lopped off. :lol:


As for comparing the overall dimensions of the S550 and S197: They may be almost the same size but the S550 wears a tailored suit, the S197 wears one from JCPenney off the rack . :mrgreen:
