I have done some pretty stupid shit in my driving days....
So far my biggest oh shit moment:
PURPLE, 96 Talon ESi - Totaled
Summer before my Junior year in HS (01?), driving back from my summer gig at a sporting clays range. Driving to and from there were plenty of places to use all 140hp this car had. Was misting, driving on this stretch of rt 56 (https://www.google.com/maps?ll=37.64770 ... 1&t=h&z=15) as you can see there is a bit of a straight stretch, and a left kink, took too much speed into the kink, rear end stepped out, tried to correct, couple of fishtails and it whipped around into a couple of 360s. Facing wrong way in wrong lane, I cranked the car back up and went on my way. Pulled over to collect myself in a stupid location, I saw my buddy coming and waved him down, he thought something was wrong in the road ahead. Slammed on the brakes, and understeered into my driver door, totaling the car.
4 Wheeler-
Basically hauling ass on some new trails, on private property we should have been on. Running at a pretty good pace, I was up front, next thing I know I am in excrutiating pain laying back on the 4 wheeler with blood running down my face. Un marked, Rusted chain across the trail, clothes lined me, had I not been wearing my helmet, I am pretty sure it would have ended up in a pretty bad situation. 2 black eyes and a bloody nose later, I took my time on new paths.
Not really oh shit or scary but worth mentioning.
91 Ford Explorer - Still Kickin
Driver to school one morning I came up on a field, 2 deer ran out in front of me. Blammo, I hit both of them twice. For those of you that have seen the red/silver Exploder, thats why dad fabbed up that bumper.
I got in plenty of OMG why can I see the rear quarter panel of the eclipse moments. OTW to summit, water in that hard right hander prior to the track. WHEEEEEEEEEEE. Turning left after the days inn or whatever headed toward the convo at JMU, almost took out a road sign.....
I am honestly surprised I am still alive and/or not in a wheel chair, the 91 explorer was my HS car prior to the Talon, you should not hear rear tires chirping in turns on an explorer, nor should you bury the speedo, which only maxed at 85, but it was a very floaty 85.
