Possibly, it got up to operating temp fine. A bad thermostat isn't going to hurt anything in the short term either way. We must have drove my grandads old jeep for years with a bad thermostat.
I'm sure he did either way. There wasn't anything preventing that car from driving across the country as it was.

Bahahhah. This is why I don't buy cars from fellow MMers anymore :lol: The two times I did, the cars were total utter pieces of shit that I had to put a lot of time and effort into (and a little $$). Luckily flipped both for more money, but was an experience.
Don't know that I would call an e36 that could use a cooling system refresh at some point in the future a piece of shit.
Edit: Well all BMW's are pieces of shit so I guess it works :lol:
