Project Halloween Costume (Longstrike Mod!)
#11
WRXtranceformed Wrote:The ghillie suit is SO legit. Actually really well put together. The nerf gun is awesome but is extremely underpowered out of the box. The gun shoots a lot farther and straighter actually without the extended barrel attachment. But then it looks weird, sort of like a G36C.

So my impulse buy on the mod kit I feel is definitely going to be worth it! Right now it can barely make it across my living room and down the short hallway even with the barrel removed. I may do a before and after video to show the difference.
Didn't get the gun covered up well until later, but:

I got a few things in the mail on Friday, so I thought I would try my hand at the modding before I went out with some friends. In all it took me about an hour - hour and a half because the directions were AWFUL and I screwed something up and had to take the gun back apart after I had sealed it up again. If anyone ever tries something like this, I would HIGHLY recommend taking a picture of the gun in stock form after you take it apart. It will help you a lot.

What came in the mail:

Pulling the bolt off and unscrewing all of the screws. Make sure you put all of the screws in their locations after you take them out because they are all different sizes.

The Orange Mod Works kit:

Blaster apart:

Had to notch a piece of the internal plastic to make the metal trigger guard fit. Again, terrible directions that did not mention this. You can see it in the middle near the circular post.

Internals finally all replaced and greased with silicone lubricant. Yes I did lose one super tiny screw, no clue where that went. Also took out the clip lock to make it easier to get them in and out:

All back together:

All ghillied up with the N Strike scope:

I did get a video of the before shots and I plan to take some of the afters...but wow what a difference. I might have not aligned everything perfectly inside, or maybe it is how it is supposed to be, but you really have to make sure you seat the chamber all the way back and forward before you pull the trigger or it chews up the darts. But before the darts could barely make it 30 feet down my hallway, especially with the barrel extension on it. Now they fly straight all the way down my hall and smash into my door, barrel extension or not. Nice!
