If you were considering a Miata as a fun, small, efficient runabout, you now have two options at reasonable price points. Finally, another manufacturer has realized that there is so much more to a car than a loud rumble and 500 hp ready to kill you. Besides, if they wanted to attack the Corvette crowd, they would've tried to find a way to put a V8 in there, and there is no doubt that somebody is going to try to do that in the very near future...
I didn't say they were trying to break into the Corvette buyer market, but that guy sure didn't do a good job convincing me that I should pass up a more expensive, RWD V8 coupe for a less expensive RWD 4 banger as a fun weekend car / track racer. In reality, most people buying these are going to be doing exactly what most people are doing in a Corvette; stoplight racing. So exists another slow tuner fanboi car that the 18-24 demographic is going to throw a downpipe and springs on and fart their way around town.
It's just the reality of it. Anyone buying this car to track might as well just buy a Miata, or step it up and buy a RWD V8 coupe.
