Besides, if they wanted to attack the Corvette crowd, they would've tried to find a way to put a V8 in there, and there is no doubt that somebody is going to try to do that in the very near future...
The car looked and sounded underpowered to me. Might be a good tuner platform, but a car like that is not going to sway me from a V8 two seater in the future.
