To get a decent grand stand seat you could pay less than $100 easily. I ended up with a general admission ticket for free but next year I'll pay for a grandstand seat. The problem with most street races is that there isn't much elevation change if any so it's hard to see much when you're at street level.
Of course you could always watch from one of the parking decks. Don't know anyone that got up there though.
