Nice bike, Scotty. I rarely, if ever, mountain bike anymore, but RJ should be able to offer you some good advice on tire choice. [I'll save him the trouble: Continental Mountain Kings.]
The whole dual-springy thing really puts a damper on explosive climbing power, but you get rewarded for staying in your seat and pedaling smoothly. I've heard that the Candys have a propensity for self-destruction, so you may want to be ready with another pair to go on sooner rather than later. I stay away from Eggbeater variants [in favor of XTRs], but I did mention that I don't really ride mountain bikes anymore, right?
... now if you want to bring a road bike out to play...
