It's amazing where BMW likes to put plastic sometimes. At least the new expansion tank in my e46 had been slightly re-engineered with thicker plastic in parts.

Talk to my friend that neglected to replace water pump and expansion tank in his gf's 120k mile old e46, needs a new motor now.
