Matt's 1999 M3 - Sully - 03-28-2011

Picked it up last week from Maryland. Really excited to get into the BMW world, less excited as I look closer at the car. I checked it over before buying it but seemed to have missed alot...I'll post pics soon but as far as plans for the car after I pay it off that is.
When I say new, just means new to me for most parts like body parts, used will prolly be the way I go.

Needs:

New Hood
New Decklid
New Front Bumper
Front Bumper Grills/Brake ducts and Fog Lights
Front Bumper Splash shield (Motion Motorsports Splitter/undertray combo)
New Splash shields
New Hood release or maybe fiberglass hood with pins
M50 install kit (the m50 install was done by someone less than capable)
Clutch Pedal Bushing Install (have the bushings)
New shifter bushings so probably a short shift kit(maybe z3 or something)
Wheel spacers? (Current setup hits the strut assembly but also destroys the fender liners so not sure spacers are guna be the best route
New Driver Window Regulator
New Driver side Door Lock Actuator
New Moldings in a few places
New Headlights(prolly ebay ones that I'll tear apart and do a proper HID kit from OEM Nissan/Acura Projectors and ballasts. Got a few extra ballasts laying around pulled from broken Nissan Headlights and some acura TL Projectors)(Current setup is sub par at best with the ballasts(ebay ballasts) being just tucked behind headlight, not secured)
Refresh the entire cooling system including new radiator, water pump, hoses, etc.
Maybe an electric fan or new clutch fan because current one is chewed up.
Proably alot more I am forgetting also

Possibly a new Driveshaft Bearing
Headliner of course
Oil Pan Gasket(Pulling the engine over summer so proably new motor mounts and transmission mounts while I have the engine out)

I have a z3 short shifter with all the bushings for an m3. I'll be down April 30

Re: Matt's Hellrot Red 1999 M3 - caa337 - 03-28-2011

Didn't mean to sound like a dick. Hope you get it in perfect condition soon. And I paid 3k for it and everything except the front lip and clear coat on the back bumper are/were wrong with it basically.

But post some pics up!

Re: Matt's Hellrot Red 1999 M3 - Jake - 03-28-2011

+Juan, pix!

I won't get in to the pricing debate... if you're happy with it then that's what matters. Should be a fun project!

What sort of mods are done to it as it sits?

I like Hellrot. 'Specially with the smoked corners. Not sure how I feel about the spoiler; it was a factory (or dealer?) option and doesn't look bad per se, just don't see them too often.

Nice cleanup work! Now what's on the to-do list? Every BMW has one.

Re: Matt's Hellrot Red 1999 M3 - Sully - 04-11-2011

Its about a 15 footer, once u get close u start seeing things..but overall I'm happy with it

The first couple things this summer will be:
An aluminum underpanel from motion motorsports
Redo the M50 swap (correctly this time)
Coolong system overhaul if I get enough cash
Maybe replace the bumper grill with oem(rigged up a denali grill for now
Put fogs back in (gotta buy em)
Front bumper is a lil loose
Pull engine and do all mounts including trans.
Replace oil pan gasket
Headliner if I get ambitious
Fix loose exhaust
Replace Shifter bushings or short shift kit
Replace Clutch Pedal Bushings
And some little stuff like the clock bulb and things like that
