if you thought there was ever going to be a sporty lightweigt rwd coupe for $13k then I have a bridge to sell you.
Uh, I never thought that. But If you ask me, this is a FAIL. 25k? for this? And I'm not buying the faster, more spacious, larger aftermarket WRX because....?
Quote:Here's another reason why it's a fail:First of all, what existing platform did this car come from? It's not like they chopped 2 doors off an IS250 and called it a day. Also, Carrol Shelby is a dickhead.
4 years? 4 years from rumor to this, when they didn't have to do any drivetrain development? C'mon. It's bullshit. Carroll Shelby could have designed, prototyped, and built this car in 3 months. In a cave. With a box of scraps!
Secondly, car development cycles actually take several years from concept to product. 3 to 4 years is about the average, and that's assuming a project hasn't been delayed or put on hold for some reason (like for instance, because of a global financial meltdown). The reason all-new models of cars only come once ever 4-6 years or more is because it take several years to develop a car, and several years to recoup the costs of developing a car. You can shortcut this a bit for boutique, small-volume stuff but those cars end up costing more or giving up features, refinement, performance, etc.
