Interesting on the Blackstone report. I'm always curious how long you can really go between oil changes. I'm good about a 3k-4k interval on the Miata, which does not run synthetic oil. I've heard 3,000 is somewhat low for dino oil, and the numbers for synthetic are kinda all over the place (I've heard anywhere from 5,000 to 10,000 for synth).
