^^^Did you guys train at Massanutten or Bryce? I remember seeing the JMU team for many years at Bryce working with Horst and Ryan.

And yeah, I was on the race team at Bryce (quit when I got a snowboard) and you do learn a lot. Even if you think your good already, you'll be amazed how quickly your bad habits are exposed in the gates.

we trained at Bryce on Tuesdays and Thursdays (sometimes wednesdays). we also had an annual race at Bryce every season (pending weather)

you know Locher? he was our main coach when i was on the team. a great guy, a fun coach, and an incredible skiier - ridiculously fast. taught me a lot about the true meaning of carving and riding my edges in ice. i just wish i spent more years on the team, that single year was my only year on a competitive ski team... i was on the regular B-team slalom and with a little training i think i could've made the a better GS skier too.

I also suggest the JMU ski club (not the race team). They have an uber fun trip to Canada every year that I would go to again ifI wasnt an alumni.

there - i've corrected that for you - there's a big difference between the two Organizations :wink:

note - this is not a team, but rather a club (unless some new org has started since i've left). i was a member of this too and it was better for simply meeting people and having fun. very low dues (i think $20?) and trips to Massanutten. there is also a seperate club for boarders as well although i think the ski club had both. from my experience the members of the club weren't all that into skiing/boarding, but rather the 'fun' of being at the resort - which is totally fine, it's just a completely different crowd. the team was much more into the sport, so you'll have more hardcore skiers and boarders.
