ST. PAUL - The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

Bristol Palin, one of Alaska Gov. Palin's five children with her husband, Todd, is about five months pregnant and is going to keep the child and marry the father, the Palins said in a statement released by the campaign of Republican presidential candidate John McCain.

To me this doesn't prove that Trig is Sarah Palin's son at all. Let's say Bristol is pregnant right now. How could anyone confirm whether she is 5 months, 3 months, or even 1 month pregnant? Even if she is 5 months pregnant the baby wouldn't be born until well after the election.

All it would take is for Bristol to get pregnant again, which may have been okayed by her parents on the provision that her and her beau get married. Problem solved for them.

Really I wouldn't be very skeptical at all except for the flight from Texas Palin took after her water broke. That doesn't make any sense and is medically unlikely that on her 5th child that she would be able to go about 10 hours after the water broke (not to mention the fact that you're not supposed to fly after 7 months). On top of that, no one noted that she was in any kind of distress on the plane, and when she got to Alaska she didn't go to the best hospital in the state (in Anchorage) she drove 45 minutes to her home town hospital. The home town hospital didn't have a record of Trig's birth that day.

Nope, not buying it.
