I don't know how much it helps out his image. As much as they criticized Obama for picking Biden, a 30 year "insider" as a choice for "change" it's going to get thrown right back at him for picking a 2 year novice governor of a state with hardly any people.

The VP doesnt do shit anyway, so personally I think its just to interject some "starpower" and excitement into McCains campaign since apparently thats whats more important nowadays....

I think Palin helps McCain more than Biden helps Obama. Palin will appeal to voters more conservative than McCain and she will probably get some of Hillary's sore loser voters to switch to Republican.

Biden on the other hand doesn't really win Obama anything, even if he does have a bunch of experience. I think Obama should've chosen Wesley Clark.

I had heard that before but apparently there is a very strong correlation between age and the incidence of Down Syndrome.
