It's close but something is mis-proportioned and the articulation is a little too severe. It looks like it has alittle chinesey-fengdong-geely design element. Worst of all, it side profile looks like the old Tiburon and that is an abomination all unto itself.Yeah, it definitely yields to its heritage a little, I totally see that first gen Tiburon sitting there. The front is a little too short, I'd love to see them stretch the bonnet out just a little more to give it a longer nose and less "lump" in the front.
That said, I really like it. If they really come to market with a similar car that performs well and has a good price, these will fly off the lots.
I'm a firm believer in judging each car based on what it is, rather than the whole brand.
Toyota hasn't made a car with any sack since they dropped the supra (Lexus doesn't count). You couldn't have given me a brand new Mitsubishi in the early 2000s (hell, I still wouldn't own any of them other than the EVO). If Hyundai really shines on this, and it sounds like they are using it as a jumping board for several vehicles, this could turn them into a major auto power. It sounds like they are doing a lot of re-branding and making their cars all run like a family, which is exactly what the rest of the market is doing; gone are the days where Hyundai takes years to catch up...
Props to them for trying. I'm a little out of the loop on new cars, but if they really do this, I think they'll catch a huge group of people in a niche market. I don't know of any currently produced cars that can take this car on based on what's being said.
