- CaptainHenreh - 11-12-2007 Let it go on the record that I *totally* called this. This is *exactly* what Toyota SHOULD be building. Big props to Hyundai. - Andy - 11-12-2007 A lot of Hyundai's product has been pretty sharp. I never thought I'd be living in a world where Honda/Toyota keep effing up while Hyundai/Nissan are cashing in. - ScottyB - 11-12-2007 i'd rock the hell out of one of those - Mike - 11-12-2007 big props on the numbers, but have any of you spent any real time in a tiburon? the last 2 generations... GIANT PIECES OF SHIT. i'll give hyundai the nod on their build quality improving over the years, but i get the feeling that the tiburon is built somewhere else

Nissan's been doing this for about 5 years :dunno: - Evan - 11-12-2007 shit. this makes decisions much more difficult. - WRXtranceformed - 11-12-2007 Still sounds like speculation to me, are those numbers legit? Interesting how the V6 numbers are in line with the current V8 Mustang numbers. Korean cars for the lose. - Andy - 11-12-2007 It's not speculation. They are releasing a rwd coupe and sedan. - CaptainHenreh - 11-12-2007 .RJ Wrote:CaptainHenreh Wrote:Let it go on the record that I *totally* called this. Please point me to the Nissan RWD turbo coupe (for under 20k) sold in the US in the past 5 years. KThxbye. - G.Irish - 11-12-2007 CaptainHenreh Wrote::?: The Hyundai is not turbo-charged and is not going to be under $20k..RJ Wrote:CaptainHenreh Wrote:Let it go on the record that I *totally* called this. Edit: NM, the internet rumor mill says it will have a turbo option. Either way a V6 Coupe for $25k to $30k is the 350Z. The Z is mo' expensive but probably anywhere from 300 to 500 lbs less though (judging from the weight of the previous V6 Tiburon). - WRXtranceformed - 11-12-2007 Obviously, but are those power numbers / engine combos legit? They mentioned everything from a turbocharged 4 banger to a V8 engine in it. - CaptainHenreh - 11-12-2007 G.Irish Wrote::?: The Hyundai is not turbo-charged and is not going to be under $20k. G. Not being able to read TFA Wrote:According to the info given, the Coupe would have two engine options, a 2.0L turbo with 215HP and 217 ft-lbs of torque, or a 3.8LV6 with 300HP and 280 ft-lbs. Prices were given as $19,900 for the 4 or $25,900 for the V6. - .RJ - 11-12-2007 CaptainHenreh Wrote:Please point me to the Nissan RWD turbo coupe (for under 20k) sold in the US in the past 5 years. 287hp, $26k (MSRP for base), 3100 lbs for the 350z. The title of the thread is "$25k 300hp RWD coupe". I find it funny that all of a sudden everyone's all up on Hyundai's nuts for bringing a car like this to market when one's already available with a proven (and great sounding!) engine and build quality. Just sayin'. - BLINGMW - 11-12-2007 well, hoping that it's made like other Hyundais (I've never been in a Tiburon, but the others impress me), and I can ever figure out how to spell Hyundai without looking it up, I think the turbo 4 could be pretty cool! - CaptainHenreh - 11-12-2007 Base MSRP for a 350Z is 27.9? I mean, I see your point. And I <3 that Nissan does this. All I'm saying is that the more to the party, the better. And, I totally called it. - .RJ - 11-12-2007 CaptainHenreh Wrote:Base MSRP for a 350Z is 27.9? That was a post on autoblog (who rarely writes their own articles) about a post on a web forum. Not too credible IMO.G.Irish Wrote::?: The Hyundai is not turbo-charged and is not going to be under $20k. To be honest I don't see why Hyundai would bother with a big V6 if they had a turbo motor. Why not just save the money and put the engineering resources into getting 300 hp out of the turbo-4? - jongp3 - 11-12-2007 G.Irish Wrote:CaptainHenreh Wrote:Psssh, that was not an article. For real are V6s more cost effective or something? it would seem to me the market would be all over a High HP turbo car, then a silly over rated V6. Why can't more cars be like the 80s. I guess what it boils down to, is a turbo car is more maintenance and less MPG on Premium gas only. - .RJ - 11-12-2007 G.Irish Wrote:To be honest I don't see why Hyundai would bother with a big V6 if they had a turbo motor. That strategy worked well for Audi I think. I think it would be a sharp move to put both out there - one for the crowd that wants to modify (more flexibility in tuning with teh boost) and one with more power/torque for the 'average' joe that doesnt want to touch the motor? |
