You understand there's a fundamental difference between trailing into the corner and tapping the brakes mid turn, right?

Yes, there is. But a blanket statement of "dont use the brakes while turning" isnt a great one to follow.

Good thing I said:

"But if they've got their hands on the brakes they're going to tap them constantly to make small modifications to their speeds at times when they shouldn't (like turning)."

And not "don't use the brakes while turning."
