Ok, I have now had the Miata's left front corner apart for the third time this week and it is driving me insane. It all started with a groaning noise coming from the LF when making right hand turns, and there was some play in the bearing. I replaced the bearing, put the car on the ground, and everything seemed tight. Took it out for a drive and now the groaning is louder and more consistant than before. Off goes the wheel again to make sure I put on the bearing correctly and everything seems fine. Today I took the car to a local tire place to take a look, and they went with me in the car and heard the noise. I left it with them, they put it in the air and couldn't find a thing wrong or loose. So I am not just loosing my mind. Anyone have any ideas as to what the heck it is?
