Thats true....and hopefully this will be an example of reform, its just a case of what do you do with someone that is mentally unstable? You're the psych major so maybe you can answer, but do you medicate the hell of them or put them in an institution or what? Its a shame if someone slips into psychotic/homocidal behavior like this for whatever reasons, but when it has matured to his level I think action should be taken instead of beating around the bush with counselling and "feel good" talk.

A person such as him in an environment such as a college campus needs to be removed immediately if they show signs of "school shooter" behavior. And if our system was really good, a police background check would show someone is in counselling for stalking/setting a fire/disturbing behavior and they wouldn't be allowed to purchase a gun. I know this is all so easy to say after the fact but this time I really hope we learn from this, after all it was the worst shooting in American history.

I think America as a whole could benefit a lot from actively trying to reform society rather than practicing and preparing for the worst. For example, I'm not for metal detectors and bag searching on college campuses, but I am for delinquent behavior being treated with immediate expulsion. People need to learn that anti-social/dangerous behavior will be met with equally strong punishments before they can become a further danger to society
