I think a lot of people got "caught out" today. We were out for the last 3-4 hours running errands and in the beginning people were driving slow enough that it was actually pretty dangerous. We're talking 15 mph on Route 7 when the conditions safely allowed 45 mph. I really didn't expect there to be so many people out but judging by the way they were freaking out I think they didn't really expect any snow.
The main roads weren't really treated until later in the day but it was less than an inch so things weren't that bad as long as you were smooth. A heard a woman say "Well as soon as you start to slide it's all over" which was fairly amusing. I'm convinced that everyone should be required to do some sort of track day to learn to be smooth and the limits of car control. I could definitely break it lose fairly easily but it wasn't like I couldn't turn or stop if I wanted. A GTI and I had some fun at that big 90┬░ turn by my house.
On another note, the ABC store was doing some solid business today.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth
