I just remember the day when I could brag that my 5 year old mac was still quite useful and could run the latest whatever, while a 5 year old PC was, well, probably already in the trash.
I realize Apple needs to make $$ just like anyone else, but they used to do it on the backs of loyal fanboys like myself who felt confident that the extra penny spent on the system upfront would be 2 pennies saved when the system lasted longer. This just stood out in my mind as a clear example of "they don't make 'em like they used to!"
