The maintenance costs of 944 are pretty rediculous. I remember Danny telling me that water pumps are like 300 bucks and the timing belt has to be changed every 30K. The thing has 2 timing belts and a balance shaft belt. It also has to be retensioned every 15K. The best part is that it's an interference motor so if you don't, you're driving around in a really expensive timebomb.
Honestly, I wouldn't pick most if any of these cars if I was still in school especially cars like S2K and MR2's. These cars are so impractical.
Thayer has a GF so he doesn't need a pussywagon. Thayer doesn't have an interest in trackdays so he doesn't need a Vette which is the only reason I would get one.
WRX wagon or MazdaSpeed3 would be the way to go in my book. It's a turbo, gets good gas mileage and is a wagon so it's practical which keeps the GF happy.
