im game, is there a cost?

We said $2 for clays...we figure before the competition there will be a practice session so we will need a couple hundred clays. 2 people can use 100 rounds (and 90 clays) in about an hour. You also need to get your own ammo, depending how much practicing and shooting after the competition you could split a box with someone.

you have your own thrower?

It will be provided. There will be at least two, so we could have at least 3 people shooting during the practice.

can my car make it to the range as far as the driveway to it, huge ruts, potholes, etc...

You would need to go super slow. There is one water break cut in the road a car like your might have a problem with, but even with that you outta be able to get there with caution. We saw an A4 go past up to the rifle range when we were there the other day. The road is pretty shitty, I wouldn't wash your car before going!
