I have talked to Jon Kofod and Jason Franza about it.... i just need to talk them into it. I would love to co-drive with either of them, they're both fast and they dont run into things.
And stacked 2x4's under the rear wheel for gas fill ups = a must.

So who wants to go to this? I inquired about a group discount, maybe we could get a decent crew together between us and CCVT. I can't come but I think it should be a damned fun event.

OK I emailed the promoter/director for the event about getting group pricing and this is what he said:
Quote:If you get together at least 20 cars then I can give you a weekend pass
for $30 per person. I am checking with VIR on camping. They normally
charge $50 for the weekend. The best thing to do for parking is to
arrive early and grab passes for the fan festivals. that way you can
park in the north paddock. I am including a link with info for one of
the 5 fan festivals so you can take a look. we could probably set up
dedicated parking for you in the skid pad area. that is really cool
because it is on asphalt, right where a bunch of activity is taking
place and close to potential camping spots. But in order to execute the
parking there'd have to be some rules:
1. commitment of 50 cars. I need to do this because I need to take away
space from others to do this, so I don't want the space to go unused.
And I need this to be big enough so people notice. It has to be obvious
it is a club(s), not just 10 or 20 randomly parked cars.
2. 1 or 2 people to help get people into the parking spots
3. combined arrival. it is very difficult to run an open lot for
preferred parking at this point in the game. you don't have to get
there at the same time, but that would be ideal. in a best case
scenario we stage you guys in the Raceplex at whatever time works, and
then we bring you in as a group.
let me know what you think.
thanks
We'd probably have to get CCVT and maybe the VCU or UVA car clubs involved to make it happen. I don't know if Mason's group is still together but if you could get them in on it you could probably get a section for 50 cars.

Another email on the campsite fee:
Quote:I can get the camping down from $50 to $35. so a combo pack would cost
$65 instead of $90 (or $100 if you purchased day of).
The camping pass would be for the whole weekend so it'd be a lot cheaper than trying to work out a hotel. I camped at VIR for AMA Superbike and it went pretty well, the showers and facilities are pretty clean and I didn't have to wait long.

damn, this sounds like a lot of fun, I wish I had seen it before (have no idea how I missed it) but I'm gonna have to miss it :-(.
I have at least 2, but possibly as many as 5, sets of worker credentials to give you guys (3-day all access passes and VIP passes which means free food the whole time.) You'd still need to pay for camping, but it's cheap enough.
The only catch is that you'll need to help us staff a few portions of the event for a few hours a day to get the free tickets. Specifically, we need people to strap passengers in & work grid for this:

Tentatively, the timeframes for your help would be:
Friday 3:30p - 5:30p
Saturday 10:30a - noon and 1:30p - 3p
Sunday 8a-10:30a
PM or email me if you're interested.
Thanks!
