Okay, so let's lay it out in the open. I take wheels on and off my car more time in a year than most "normal" people do for the lifetime of thier ownership of a car. Putting the wheels on and threading the lug nuts on the 240 is a royal PITA and I'm getting tired of it. So, I've come up with a couple of options and want to see if you can come up with something different and get some feedback.
Fact 1: Toyota wheel stud has a different head pattern than the Nissan head
Fact 2: Thread pitch of the Toyota and Nissan studs are not the same
Option 1: order some longer wheel studs of the same thread pitch and head and use my current lug nut. Longer studs makes it super easy to put the wheel on and start threading the lug nut, and should also be pretty readily available.
Option 2: I can get a set of stock mkIII lug nuts for < $10. These are about 3x as long as a normal lug nut, so they should thread pretty easily. Get a set of wheel studs with the Nissan head and the thread pitch of the supra lug nut.
I'm leaning toward option 1, but I wanted to see if anybody could come up with something more creative or more effective, or find a reason not to do this.
So the 240 lugs are hard to thread - is that the issue you're trying to overcome?
Edit - Yes, upon re-reading, that seems to be the issue.
Are you sure you can do longer studs without pushing the lug nuts too far out to hold the wheel on tightly?

Get some extended studs - see if you can find some with a shank on the end of the stud, will make getting the nut on easier  Oh yeah, then get an electric impact because now it takes forever to thread them off/on.

I thought so too at first, but they do have SOME advantages that I'd miss now that I've gotten used to them. Easier to replace and much harder to crossthread are two big ones. Of course, the list of disadvantages is much longer. :oops:

I suggest extended studs and lugs that are "open" like what you saw on the XR. It's so easy!
I do 2nd RJ's advice of a better method of applying the nuts if you go this route. We all know how annoying it can be when it takes too long to get your nuts where they should be.

Good luck on hunting down longer wheel studs. The Nismo studs (the only ones I've ever heard of) are redonkulouslyious expensive for wheel studs.
A good bet might be to figure out what the ?shank? of the stud is, match it with a 'murrican stud, and put those in all around.

The thread pitch doesn't matter. You'll have to get new nuts anyhow that have a hole all the way through, so just get 12x1.25 studs and 12x1.25 nuts to match.
All you need to know is the shank size. Call up Summit or Jegs, both sell ARP wheel studs. Just make sure the mating surface of the nut-to-wheel of the nut matches the new nut. Did that make since?

Just for the record its really sad to see the red 240 in its current condition, we had a lot of fun with that car. That was Rex's birthday present to himself for his 20th birthday, and while it has always been a big ole pile of shit, it was a fun car.
