The Germans tend to make cars that are built in a more complex way but are better to drive as a result.

It's important to keep in mind that for all of the random little stuff Taylor has had wrong with his Mk7 GTI, Joey has owned two that have required... oil changes. Other friends of mine have also had positive experiences with them.

I've got a 2015 GTI with a engine tune that bumps it up around 80whp over stock and a transmission tune to go with it. So far I've had to tighten one bolt on the door because it was making a noise. Otherwise, just oil changes.

Overall the MK7's tend to be very solid cars.

I think every person that's been in my GTI has complimented it. When I tell them it's the base model and what I paid, they are impressed.

I can agree with this. The build quality of my wife's GSW isn't quite as nice as my mk6, which is weird since it's 7 years newer... I'm assuming the mk7/7.5 GTIs are nicer.

The halogen headlights are trash though. Shocked they even came on the GTIs...

Sent some angry tweets out and tagged VW Care.

This bastard dealer is telling me they don't see or hear a problem with my speaker or the lights.

The fucking dealer that sold it to me said the speaker was blown and ordered one.

The lights flicker like a disco every time I open the door when the car is cold. I left it over night for them to see that. I'm so tired of this shit. The burden of proof shouldn't be on my end.

Lindsay? why wasn't it installed? i can understand the inconvenience since you live in tysons now, but i'd probably take it back to them. i can see how a dealership would be that petty by not performing (or resisting to perform) warranty service on a car they didn't sell to the customer.

Why? They get paid for warranty work regardless of who sold the car. The warranty comes from VW USA not the dealer. That excuse is a cop-out.

i just mentioned "petty", because that is what it would be if they didn't sell the vehicle since they get paid for the work regardless. i have heard that warranty work is either a PITA or the dealer gets paid less for the work than the standard work, but i'm not sure how much truth there is to this claim.

Let me be clear. I don't care as much about the dealer as much as having a car that's broken ever 6 weeks.

Tell them to fix the issues reported regardless of whether the tech can replicate the issue. And put you in a loaner until all is fixed. That or compensate you for the time taken off of work, time getting to and from the dealer, and time you've been making payments on a car that has been sitting in the shop.

Honestly a box full of VW swag or something may make me feel better about it. At the end of the day, these little issues like the lights don't bother me. It's the fact that there's always something wrong with the car, which the fix is to make my car not have more issues, which isn't a possible reality.

Who knows, nothing else may break for the next 50,000 miles, or something semi-major like the oil pan gasket may fail again next week. I have no way of knowing and that's what's got me angry. Who knows, maybe this will go on for another year and I'll eventually end up in a Golf R
