If you find a 1bd place in that price range that's good quality and location I'm fighting someone cause that's hburg prices

That kind of pricing is mostly "with roommates" up here depending on location (heavily dependent). A 1 BR with no private garage is more like $1400 minimum, at least the last time I looked.
That's what I would figure

RawrImAMonster Wrote:$1200 (for the whole house) would easily get you a 4br house with a garage if you look around in Harrisonburg. If you have roommates that's about as cheap as you're going to get. Rent/housing in general is pretty damn cheap in Harrisonburg.

It'd be a great commute for him too!

Yeah I'd say you can pretty safely expect $800-1000/mo if you have at least one roommate, probably looking more at the $1400-1500 range if you end up doing something alone.

Back in the day I rented a shitty house in Vienna (anyone remember Turducken v1 and v2?) for $600-ish/mo with 1 or 2 other dudes. The house was awful but had an oversized 2-car garage...

About 6 years ago we were renting a house in Falls Church with a garage for $2500-300 total, 3 dudes, 2 car garage. Falls Church to tysons is easy commute too.

I remember that one, but didn't remember it was turducken. Every once in a while I feel bad about the shape that place was left in. Was it also the ice luge one, or is that something else?

Pretty sure that was the ice luge party, too.

I can tell you that is exactly what we paid for our 1 bedroom apartment 10 minutes outside of Baltimore 2 years ago. Had a gym and a pool. No garage included. Price seems to be right in line with what I have seen.

Be prepared for massive police harassment if you head up the road there toward Fairfax and have a vehicle with non-stock sounding exhaust. Otherwise that seems pretty decent for the area, you're close to Fair Oaks Mall, not too far from 28 where you can head toward Chantilly, Sterling, Uudvar-Hazy, etc. I weep for you for that commute to Tyson's though, but you're not gonna avoid that anywhere in that area.

In a weird way I kind of miss that area, I spent so much of my life there with my dad having a shop in Chantilly and then pouring literal blood sweat and tears into building homes down the road in Kirkpatrick Farms. I used to have a blast hitting the back roads back home toward Leesburg / Hamilton from there (Snickersville Turnpike)

Joey found these for me. I may hopefully have an MM roommate but that is still in the air.

Just a note from someone who actually, ahem, still lives in Fairfax County. Not sure if this is really true anymore. Police harassment in Fairfax County has really died down a lot since the car scene in general just isn't as massive.

Edit: This is coming from someone who drove a BMW with 3" exhaust around until last year in this part of the county. Now driving a 4 cylinder, also with exhaust. No issues.

I live about 5 miles northwest of Fair Oaks, and I commute to Tysons. It's around 7.5 miles for me, generally in the range of 20-40 minutes, even in "oh my god this is insane whose car is on fire" traffic. Just as a point of reference.

I used to drive my catless STi and full exhaust WRX up there and also never got pulled over, but I was also usually suited up so maybe they thought I wasn't a young rapscallion? I dunno

I know Joey has been harrassed for his exhaust as well as a lot of my friends up there but hopefully they have indeed turned their attention to actual crimes

To be fair I've had the E36 up here since 2011 and I've only gotten the one exhaust ticket, although ever since that experience I tend to be *extremely* careful around cops in that car.

Dont live in fair oaks/fairfax unless you work in fair oaks/fairfax. That area is a black hole of traffic with all of the people commuting from around the area trying to get out west on 66.

Police presence isnt really a problem. I average about a ticket every 3 years, and never get hassled for anything else.

I live down the street from that apartment you posted Taylor. Nice area, the complex next to it has detached garages as well. I commute to arlington everyday from the area, really not that bad. If you are in Tysons you can probably take advantage of the backroads to make your drive a bit more fun.
