So, does anyone golf? I can always use some people to play with, and I have my clubs with me.
I got that hookup on balls, because my dad gets them for free from a golf course he does work with.
I just played with one of my clients yesterday. It was like 80 out we picked the perfect day for it. Played a course that was ranked something like the 7th hardest in the USv at one point. http://www.tothillfarm.com

I am not to Lee's standards but I do play golf. Not enough, hopefully changing this season. The GF got me lessons for this summer, so hopefully I can really get back into the swing of things. Friends and I like a quick round after work during the summer if anyone in NOVA would like to join.

Yeah, definitely lacking in the skill department since I find it hard to get out there some times.
What kind of clubs do you guys have?
I have a Walter Hagen set for beginners, but I picked up a Callaway HyperX driver and pieced some different irons and woods together as I've come across them.

Here's what's in my bag (have a new Ogio Crush lightweight bag in transit, my current Ogio was a used purchase from years ago):
Driver - Titleist 910 D2, matte black RIP shaft
3 wood & 3 hybrid - Cleveland Launchers
Irons - KZG customs, fit by Golf Tech Studio
Wedges - Cleveland CG16 black pearl 56* & 60* (I am probably going to pick up their gap wedge as well because I generally hit these way better than the KZGs)
Putter - some Odyssey blade style variant
My latest toy is the Garmin S2 gps watch. I played with it for the first time yesterday and I found it to be very, very accurate. I am surprised I waited this long to pick one up, it was so nice to have. Courses down this way are typically not marked very well, I guess they want you to buy the yardage books. 30,000 courses, free updates for life, 3 weeks battery life on watch mode and about 9 hours on gps mode. Hoping I can get two rounds per charge on it on my upcoming golf trip in WVA.

I golf! But like these guys I've been lacking. Grew up on an Arnold Palmer course getting lessons so I guess I sort of know what I'm doing. Haven't played in about a year or so though. Clubs are R9, mizuno blades, titleist wedges and an odyssey white hot putter

I've felt those white hots. Very nice feel.
I've got a set of Callaway Diablo Edge irons, Diablo Edge 3 and 5 hybrids, Hyper X driver and some old putter that DJ gave me that I still putt awesome with so I can't get rid of it. I didn't pick them up at all last season and I don't see much opportunity for me to pick them up this season with the new job and the longer commute. Anyone interested in a sweet lightly used full set of clubs?

Shopping around to get my clubs regripped today and took the opportunity swing the new Titleist TP2s, Mizuno JPXs and the Callaway Apexes. Basically the cream of the crop of the off the shelf irons. Wow technology has come a long way. I was striking the latter the best, consistently hitting a 6 iron thirty to forty yards further than my my current set:
Granted I take those simulators with a grain of salt but even if it's 10-15 yards off I am hitting the Apexes 15-20 yards further with much better ball flight (average currently is 165-170). I would like to get another shot at them at the range but the simulator was showing that it was much easier for me to hit draw the ball. Price is super steep on them and I don't need anything else to temp me to spend $$ since we have some home improvement and a fun dental implant coming up. Maybe next season!

Just compare the loft of the new club to your existing before you get too happy. My blades (from when I could play) have 3-4° more loft than the cavity back more forgiving type sets. Example - The Apex 7 iron is the same as the Titleist MB 6 iron.
Current: 1985 LS1 Corvette | 2014 328i Wagon F31
Former: 2010 Ford Edge | 1999 Integra GS
I have a little bit of a rub near lock but if you are turned to lock on a track there are other problems already...
That is a good point....The Apex's I hit were forged cavity backs like my current irons but I am sure they had very different lofts. With that said, I've hit my 5 iron maybe 200+ yards with a helpful roll once or twice. That range is where my hybrid utility club is dialed in.

I never wanted to use a simulator until now.
So I had my clubs regripped instead of going the expensive route and I can't believe I hadn't done it sooner ha....mine were in rough shape. I never realized how frequently you are really supposed to regrip clubs, they hadn't been replaced since I originally bought them about 4 years ago. They say you should replace every 40 rounds or every year. Along with my irons I had Golf Galaxy also do my driver, both woods, wedges and my putter.
Went with Winn Dri Tac midsize grips:

Putter grip is the wider / chunky grip, identically wide to the Super Stroke 2.0. Went with the Winn ProX because the SS's are almost pure white and will probably get dirty really quick.

I like the chunky putter grip a lot, it pretty much takes almost all of the wrist out of the putt. Playing a round on Thursday so it should be fun to break them in.

Having a fat grip on a putter will spoil you. You'll never want to go back. I just need to get a good putter before I want to get a quality grip.

I played with it a few days ago for the first time and was basically automatic within 5-6 feet. The fat grip alone probably dropped 3 or 4 strokes off of my round....it completely eliminated any bad wrist action. The other grips felt great too, the only one that will take some adjustment is my driver as it had a very thin, non-cushioned grip. For some reason I wasn't able to turn my club head over as easily but that should be fixed with a session or two at the range.

I will be playing here for our annual guy's golf trip in only two more days. Can't wait, it's been a few years since we have been back to this one. I need a break bad.
One of my favorite Arnie courses I have ever played: http://www.stonewallresort.com/

That's beautiful... the nicest I've played is a country club near me that I get free rounds at.
Anyone have a recommendation for some cheap/good shoes? I need to actually buy my first pair.
