See? You shoulda sold! Tongue

Same principle applies, though. That money is gone, put it where it has the best chance to make it back.

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. Why though? I'm in no rush to sell. I could also just wait until the market rebounds and pull some more money out of it. I see your point about putting it elsewhere, but honestly it's not going to sit long enough in the new investments between now and the time I'm going to sell to make a difference.

I'm not willing to take the chance and moved ~70% (up from 25%) of my 401k to bonds.

I advise everyone to move their 401k s into the MM trust fund. I promise we'll guard it closely. Note: this may or may not have to develop into a ponzi scheme in order to meet your desired returns.

are people really expecting netflix to completely die just because they raised their prices a bit? I haven't been doing research on them, but as a consumer... there's really no other movie/streaming service that has near the content that they do. Now this whole "Qwickster" name thing, maybe that's a sign of how mismanaged they really are. :dunno:

nflx is banking on streaming. they have none of the cash their competitors have, which is required for these huge contracts the studios are charging. if any of the competitors actually give it a go, they are fucked.

I , for one, welcome our Amazonian overlords. Netflix streaming content has sucked hard for a while now.

Are fundamental shifts in media delivery or technology ever cheap for the consumer?

Of course not, but there doesnt need to be a change in delivery or technology, just expand whats already there. Amazon is charging the same price for books electronically as they are in paperback, so I imagine that if they took over the streaming business we'd all be whining about how cheap Netflix was.... and quickly forget about the $6 price hike.

If they got the content right, then $20-30 month could be reasonable, at least, to me. I'm about to drop my cable service (Fios TV) so I'm probably right in their wheelhouse.
