Timing Belt

how hard would it be do install a timing belt by yourself? Or how time consuming. Trying to help someone out.

it depends, but its ususally a pretty tough job. i wouldnt attempt it without lots of time and tools. its also a good idea to replace the water pump with the t-belt.

You dont need much in the way of tools - this is a honda, right?

The biggest problem is getting the goddamn crank pulley bolt off. Once thats done, its just turning wrenches, taking your time, not losing anything and tensioning it properly on the install.

I think I did 4 honda belts last year... maybe more, but I dont want to remember - not my favorite job. R gets one this winter (along with a shit ton of other maitnenance shit).

you better not be counting mine.... cause we couldnt get the crank off! hell that wasnt easy on the new motor when it was out of the car.... if its been changed before you shouldnt have an issue but if it is the OG belt... take it do a shop

pretty straightforward job, you've just gotta pay attention to details.

ok just curious. And its not a honda, its a mazda. Ill tell him to just take it to a shop, he needs to bring it in for sometin anyway
