Timing Belt - damnit458 - 09-10-2004 how hard would it be do install a timing belt by yourself? Or how time consuming. Trying to help someone out. - ScottyB - 09-10-2004 it depends, but its ususally a pretty tough job. i wouldnt attempt it without lots of time and tools. its also a good idea to replace the water pump with the t-belt. - .RJ - 09-10-2004 You dont need much in the way of tools - this is a honda, right? The biggest problem is getting the goddamn crank pulley bolt off. Once thats done, its just turning wrenches, taking your time, not losing anything and tensioning it properly on the install. I think I did 4 honda belts last year... maybe more, but I dont want to remember - not my favorite job. R gets one this winter (along with a shit ton of other maitnenance shit). - Kaan - 09-10-2004 you better not be counting mine.... cause we couldnt get the crank off! hell that wasnt easy on the new motor when it was out of the car.... if its been changed before you shouldnt have an issue but if it is the OG belt... take it do a shop - Mike - 09-10-2004 pretty straightforward job, you've just gotta pay attention to details. - .RJ - 09-10-2004 Like not getting the crank pulley one tooth off... - Mike - 09-10-2004 yeah, or putting the plug wires back on in the wrong order... - Evan - 09-10-2004 Kaan Wrote:you better not be counting mine.... cause we couldnt get the crank off!that will never be an issue again - Mike - 09-10-2004 Evan Wrote:Kaan Wrote:you better not be counting mine.... cause we couldnt get the crank off!that will never be an issue again 2 of those in the club now - damnit458 - 09-10-2004 ok just curious. And its not a honda, its a mazda. Ill tell him to just take it to a shop, he needs to bring it in for sometin anyway - Mike - 09-11-2004 tell him to be prepared, it won't be cheap. |
