"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

I didn't ask "was that a bear rally", I'm asking "is this a bear rally".

I guess that's only as difficult as calling a bottom, then?

hell if I know. You were the one that declared it a bear rally a week or so ago. Not picking on you, many "ANALists" did too. So I just wonder, what made "you" (anyone who thought it was a bear rally) so sure, then, that it was a bear rally? How long does a bear rally last, are you still calling it a bear rally, and how would you know if it wasn't?

I think it's promising that the drop at the end of last week wasn't back to the 6k range. If I was in the game, I probably would have bought then, figuring at most my losses would be another 15% (didn't see it getting to the 5500 range), but that the rebound is bound to at least give me a 60% return.

Hey Maeng, you know that the Onion is based in SF, there's free copies at every corner and once a month, they have a party at a random bar where they pay for everyone's beer. Just sayin'.

Once I was in Vegas playing craps. The table was hot, I was making money, up nearly 75% overall. These three dipshit douchebags get ahold of the dice and start making all kinds of side bets. After about 30 seconds I pulled my chips off the table, and sure enough, up comes 7.
(But I lost all my money later before returning to my hotel room, but at least I got to ride a roller coaster.)

I was thinking about getting into etrade with a couple thousand. Good idea or no? Can anyone explain exactly how etrade works?
This is how I understand it. You buy and sell stocks and they charge you a fee of like $10 every time you do a transaction. Is it like realtime? So I can buy and sell same day if I want? Im just confused on how it works. Because Ive been watching AIG stock and it seems like its a really good buy. The other day it got as low as like 35 cents! Thats insane. Now its only like 1.10 but it was higher earlier in the week. Does it take time for the transaction to go through? Thats basically what Im wondering. Because when I see a good deal I want to be able to hop on it instantly. What would keep me from buying AIG when it was 35 cents and selling it right now for 1.10? Thats like a 300% profit. Am I missing something? It seems too easy.
Thanks

Yes, realtime.
Yes, buy and sell same day if you want.
I would not say AIG is a good buy. Huge risk. With that comes potential for huge gains (or losses).
Transactions typically go through immediately, but that depends on what you're buying or selling. If there's nobody to buy or sell what you're looking to do, it's not gonna be immediate.
I hit my 6.05 stop for YGE, put half that in to DEO for serious long-term and will put the other half back into YGE if it drops tomorrow... I think it will... Crazy rare for a stock to not fall the day after a 45% gain.

i'm noly with them because i have savings (they offer one of the best rates out there) and checking with them. only downside is they're not all over the place. with atm fee refunds, it's not so bad... i'll typically just take cash from a group lunch and use my card for my cash needs
