Just for the record, 1 Gallon of Gasoline weighs about 6 and a quarter lbs. This is *LESS* than water, which weighs about 8.

Correct, so 1 gal of fuel and 5 lbs. extra weight when tank is empty should have given me 11lbs to play with.
Nono, I understand what you mean, you shouldn't have "gained weight" after coming in from the track. Just saying for posterity's sake. I had a racer claim this weekend that he put in a half gallon of fuel and that should have given him 5 extra pounds. A half gallon that he eyeballed from his 5 gallon can.

The one guy said "I dont know why you are picking on the '99 cars... i'll just bring my '95 next time and cheat." Little does he understand that I, as a tech inspector, i can act on tips, i clear it with the directors (Adam)... and do what i want bascially. I'll happily impound all cars that have green or blue on them? how mad would he have been if i held them for the manditory 30 minutes?
I have quick scales and a lot more space at VIR... everyone should expect something.
the other thing i'm going to enforce like an angry Turk... no crew in the tech shed. even other peoples crew... trying to get their weight when another car is on the scales... thats a no no. If its hot, we'll give you water on your way off the scales... if you need weights, come ask me after... i have a master log on it all.
also... for anyone with an SM and the new anodized plates... telling me i dont need to measure... full of BS. you can anodize at home you know

and if you go "wow thats not worth it!" you should see what other things people go through to get an advantage.

oh yeah... alan if you see them picking on Adam for this weekend can you PM me the link. i'll happily take the blame. I make up the impound list every weekend and have the blessing of the race director to do so. they can get mad at me if they want.
