I kind of like the Xa... and the new sporty coupe.

the thoght briefly entered my head to buy one as a commuter car, but buying new cars sucks

they have the same drivetrain as well.. the xA

i've seen two xb's around the ATL...one was painted a hideous orange color and the other was "wrapped" with the logo for a business called 1-800-Got-Junk....

oh and then there was the one all pimped out on "pimp my ride"...
they look roomy though....and surprisingly smaller than i expected...

Nope, if it did I would have considered it. To tell you the truth besides emissions and gas mileage I really dont know why they didnt put the corolla motor in there. It would have suited the scions sporty look and image much more than the little echo powerplant.

Well, now that I went with mom to testdrive it, I'll give my 2 cents. It's really ugly. It's underpowered...accelerates like my 15 year old celica. It's spacious, really roomy in the back particularly. It's AWD and gets 30/35 mpg. It's a really good deal for the money. You almost have to get the wheel upgrades so you don't look stupid, and you almost have to get the engine mods to go fast.

Car salesmen: suck. DC summer weather: sucks. Having a toyota celica that won't start in front of the dealership and trying to fix it in front of them: priceless, yet, irritating.

Here's another question though: the salesman was showing Mom under the hood of the Scion, and pointing out where the coolant goes, where the windshield wiper fluid goes, blahblah. I asked where the transmission fluid goes. Now, this was a 5 speed, mind ya'll. But MY 5 speed transmission has a fluid reservoir. I mean the slave cylinder don't work on AIR! So...my question is...since no transmission fluid reservoir was to be found, do new cars not need it anymore? maybe it's all done by computers or something? I dunno. Any transmission updates would be appreciated...I'm still in 1989, car-wise.

Just a reservoir for clutch fluid. Although alot of cars use cable clutches, no fluid needed.

my Fiero had a trans fluid dipstick too. But I've never seen a car with a TRANSMISSION fluid reservoir. I'm pretty sure you're talking about clutch hydraulic fluid, which I bet the Scion does have. And it's usually close to the brake fluid reservoir. Cable clutches are long gone AFAIK. I suppose the Scion could have something odd, or maybe no reservoir (in this day and age of low maintenence, dealer gets to touch only cars)? Or maybe it was just buried and the salesman took you literally if you asked for the trans fluid reservoir, which certianly doesn't exsist.

Yeah i was kind of astonished to find out that the Honda Hybrid had its first scheduled maintenance at 110K miles or something rediculous like that.

Yes, I mean clutch hydraulic fluid, not TRANSMISSION (aka automatic) fluid. On my car, the brake and clutch fluid reservoirs are right next to each other. I've come to know them very well. But on the Scion, I just couldn't find it. And of course the salesman didn't even know how big the engine was, much less where the clutch fluid went. I guess they came up with something new for it...I guess.

Well salesmen dont know shit to begin with, but all the marketing i've seen for the Scion cars focuses on image more than anything else.

Who cares what size motor is in it if it looks pimp, has subz and an intake y0!

Um, that decision is pending. They also have their eye on a Sienna down the road. Dad's happy about that. He knows he'd have to drive the Scion at some point if we got it, and he doesn't want to be seen in one.

Um, he has his supra.... His next car will be a mk4. But he'll still get 100k miles out of this one first. We're goin' for 300k +!
