Looks like the Platinum will do 4 audio and 4 video. I use multiple video clips strung together but I can't really see myself using more than 4 tracks, considering what I'm doing to pay for it. Smile

(To be clear, video tracks is simultanious videos running parellel. I can string infinite via serial methods, right?)

"Here, at last, is the cure for texting while driving. The millions of deaths which occur every year due to the iPhone’s ability to stream the Kim K/Ray-J video in 4G could all be avoided, every last one of them, if the government issued everyone a Seventies 911 and made sure they always left the house five minutes later than they’d wanted to. It would help if it could be made to rain as well. Full attention on the road. Guaranteed." -Jack Baruth

I've heard good things about Vegas. Also, check out Avid's FreeDV - dunno how much it can handle what you want to do, but it's worth a shot.

On the Mac, I use iMovie HD and Final Cut Express.

For compressing for the web... try 320x240 pixels at 20ish fps. If you can use the H.264 codec, use it - it's good at small size vs. high quality.

Correct. Not sure about 'infinite' I'm sure there's a limit but there's no hard coded limit.

Just spent 20 minutes messing with Vegas 7.0d and it gets a  from me.

More options means I now have to learn how to use them. :?

So it looks like Vegas won't recognize the video portion of AVIs caputred from the wife's Canon digicam. I get the audio but I don't the video portion of it. If I load the same video that's been compressed in WMM then it works fine.

I read online about this program called AVI FourCC Code Changer and using it to change the code to DIVX. After that Vegas will at least detect there is a video track on the AVI but it's just blacked out.

Can anyone help? I don't want to have to run her clips through WMM first to use them. Sad
