^^Though i'm not a huge fan of anime, Cowboy Bebop is freakin awesome. The story, the action, the characters, all great. Ein has to be my favorite character

While I really like Ghost In The Shell the movie, the Manga was lightyears beyond it on so many levels. I read it back when I was 15 and loved it. Of course in a graphic novel you have a lot more time to dig deep into stories, so all of the political intrigue and attention to detail that Masamune Shirow is famous for didnt really come out in the movie. And the movie left out Fuchikomas, :thumbdown: :p

The TV series Ghost in The SHell: Stand alone complex did regain a little bit of that however. I liked it better than the movie.

You can still get the whole Ghost in the Shell series as a trade paperback for around $15, well worth the read, and amazing art.

Yeah I liked Stand Alone Complex too but I don't watch TV regularly enough to keep up with it.

For those that liked Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo is similarly entertaining. The swordplay is especially well done. And you haven't checked it out, the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack is unparalled excellence. I think there are 6 or 7 CD's with it and its got a lot of good jazz, a little bit of funk, a little bit of folk, and a little bit of soul. Good stuff.

I believe GitS:SAC is not nearly as good as the original. I was kinda disappointed. Knockin' on Heaven's Door was wonderful as well. I remember the poor ass quality rip I got way back when it first hit Japan. lol.

Samurai Champloo > Cowboy Bebop = GitS > Gundam

Gundam Wing was one of the best Gundam storylines, and is my favorite along with 0083 and 8th MS team.

And Evan is right, the manga's always outdo the show. Just look at Ikkitousen and Tenjou Tenge, so much more in the manga, and the artwork is so much better.

So much more went into making the GitS movie that its kind of unfair to compare it to the series but I really liked the series nonetheless.

I haven't seen all of the Gundam series like X and Zeta and what not but Wing has been the best I've seen hands down. Sure it has a few shortcomings but what doesn't?

I haven't watched enough of Champloo to put it ahead of Bebop. I guess I'll have to finish it now so I can compare.

it's only fair to compare them in presentation style only. as in, each episode being almost a sperate genre in some cases. Both storylines are real good though.

The american version is edited and cut. Also it is dubbed, and typically when japanese things are dubbed, they just suck.

yea, i was bummed at it.

And mostly anything before late 2004 was edited in some way or another. Dubbing doesn't help either.
