Project 2000 Miata

Maybe on a FWD chitbox, but they work great on a miata, especially at VIR full (2 hard braking zones on the whole track)

i wouldn't trust them on any car... brakes aren't something you want to "get by" on.

Generally I agree on not skimping on brakes, but in this case they do work just fine. Evan and I double-teamed his miata (hold the gay jokes) for a weekend at VIR, on ultimates, and had no issues - fade, wear, or otherwise. They arent the best pads, but... they're what, 1/3 the cost of carbotech?

With a light RWD car on a track thats easy on brakes its a no brainer.

f a miata... it doesn't add up. i'm lighter, have much larger brakes... is the weight distribution that much different?

What doesnt add up? Miatas just dont have braking issues like a honda. They're better balanced (50/50), the rear brakes actually do some work and they dont destroy rotors or burn up every piece of rubber inside the wheel.

I can draw you a picture if you want, but if you arent getting it, then there's not much I can do here.

Lighter + more HP can = needing more pad up front... espeically in a rear light car. its physics... Wink pay attention to Unk in class room next time! Wink

i assumed it was weight distribution, which is why i asked what it was.

I used Ultimates for a long time in the 240 w/o any problems. Never boiled the fluid and still stopped pretty darn good. Granted, moving up to the Carbotechs was an improvement, but he won't have any problem at VIR in the miata. Like RJ said, there just isn't that much braking to be done.

all i know is i cooked my ultimates with a vengeance on my 2nd event and i'm not too hard on brakes... i think it may have had something to do with my drums being non-functional? Tongue

i had run into a few electrical problems which i chased down. turns out it was a small 15A fuse labeled "engine". if the engine turns, i would figure that this fuse was in tact. i didnt get to that fuse until i had already taken apart the fuel pump to test it. hopefully i'll have everything back together this afternoon and try and get that gas smell out of the car, brakes bled and then pack it up for VIR. one last hurrah for this miata!

Is it going to be a tight fit for everything?

rob: miatas are known for their spacious interiors and ample cargo space.

the car held up great at the track. aside from it having some understeer, it felt great.

i've been slowly returning it to stock so i can get ready to sell it. its just the stock suspension and a good detailing away from hitting the market. anyone interested in the car? feersty and gqrob have said they're interested...

the car is just a good wash and wax away from being ready to be sold. its nearly stock with mazda motorsports competition motor mounts, 4-1 race header, and hard dog hardcore single diagonal roll bar. anyone here interested in it? i'll have pics after i wash the pile.

aint nothing wrong with silver. thats what german sports cars were because they wanted to save weight by not painting them. i like the silver personally.
