Did you check the pads? Thats probably why it is low.

How do you check the pads? Just look at them? Do you have to take the wheels off? I get a lot of brake dust, but apparently that is indicative of SVT Foci.

just look at them through the wheel... if you can see some meat on all of them, you are fine. if not, you are not fine.

there's usually an opening in the caliper that will allow you to see the brake pad resting with the rotor. While you're there you might as well check out the rotor width.

Even if you can see meat on the outside pad, the inside pad is more worn down and you may need to replace them. Floating calipers wear the inside faster.

Feersty,
Listen to RJ, brake fluid doesn't dissapear. If your fluid is low enough to flip the light, then either you've got a leak or your pads are low. No time the now to learn how to check and replace your pads. Go pick up a repair manual and start crackin'.
Two feet.

I hope the brake fluid container that you got the fluid from was not open because brake fluid absorbs water once the container is opened.
On another note I would probably reccomend just taking it to a shop or having someone come over and look at it if you are unsure about brakes.
Definitly don't want to mess around with a safety system.
Best of luck

i'm a little confused...you can't use brake fluid even if you close the can that has been opened? I thought it was ok to open it, use some and close the can again...?
you're not supposed to, but i have yet to have any problems doing so.

It is said that after 6 months an open bottle is trash. If I open a bottle and don't use it all, I date it. If I need some more fluid and the date is greater than 1 month, I throw it out and open another. One more reason why I buy them by the PINT and use Ford HD, cheap and easy to get a hold of plus has a pretty high dry boiling point.
