NOVA traffic can eat a dick
#41
Back on topic, my supposed easy "reverse commute" from vienna to herndon got the shaft because of the location of my new place - there's just no easy access west to the toll road unless I take the beltway (and pay $0.75) and coming back east is a mess - the highways are fine, but the problem is getting on, and back off the highway - all the people that are getting on the highway in rush-hour direction fuck that all up for me and getting home takes at least 30 minutes, and wednesday it took 50 minutes. Backroads have been the best bet so far.

My solution: since both my place and my job are right off the w&od i'm going to bike to work. Fuck sitting in traffic.

Shoot yourself for even thinking of that RJ.

My 40 minute drive to work has now turned into a 40 minute metro/cab ride to work.

Fuck me.

I lived in Jersey for my entire life minus JMU. Where are you commuting from/to?

Jersey/NY drivers are all dicks. You don't have to defend yourself. I just have been cut off, tailgated, not let in, run off the road... etc more in NJ/NY than anywhere else in the US.

OH, and RJ... that's a great ride every day. Get a good road bike and live it up.

yeah the traffic isn't bad except for certain times during the day in northern va. The drivers in northern va are more ignorant than abusive. the most aggressive drivers i've experienced were in the north NJ/NYC area. NJ/NY drivers are usually in full control of their vehicles, they just drive like crazy, drivers here in Northern VA are not always in control and are not always paying attention to the road, which can be quite scary, especially since most of them are on the cell phone....

I'm not defending anything, I just think that the traffic down here is unreal. WAY worse than anything I ever experienced in Jersey...but then again I knew which roads to not take and when. It'll take me awhile to nail that down here.
