MM Lanyards
#1
So, I asked the group chat last night, and it would seem that we have never had any MM lanyards. I, for one, would like to have one.

I got a quote last night for black nylon lanyards with Scott Bradford's Miata design. They'd look something like this:

First of all, are there any objections from the higher ups to a lowly peasant like myself having these made? Second, is there anyone here who would want one? To make them affordable, I'd be buying 50 of them. That should put the price per unit around $5. I don't mind paying for them up front, but I'd rather not buy 50 and end up with 45 sitting in my apartment until I throw them away.

Just a thought.

We need to get some rules defined on how we go about apparel/accessories. Usually the officers use club money to purchase items and then re-sells said items for a profit. We cannot start having members buying items willy-nilly and re-selling them because we have no idea what the 'real' costs are and/or if the 'real' profits are actually going to the club (not saying you would withhold any money, but we just don't know).

Kinda why I was asking. I'd love to make it happen, but if it's going to be an issue from a financing standpoint, it's probably not worth the hassle.

If anyone in a position of authority wants to see the quote, I'd be happy to share it with them. Otherwise, I suppose I'll just let it go.

I wouldn't say let it go. Bring it up to the officers and see if it is something they can order with the fall order coming up (pending there is one). Let's see what others think as well.

At $5 each? Nope. Lanyards are something you get for free99.
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

As a club, we would never spend the money to make these, same as the coozies.

As for buying 50. I still have 30+ of the coozies on hand even after bringing them to multiple track weekends. I'm okay with this, but I can't promise you'll make your money back.

As for what is acceptable, if people started making t shirts with MM stuff, we'd have a problem, but I think what has been happening is fine and we get more MM stuff for everyone. The club is fine on money thanks to the Last couple years of building, and we never really make much off of apparel anyway. The more the merrier.

I'm totally fine with Alex doing these. I'll take a lanyard. Good luck selling all 50 though.
