So the people on the 33 cruise might know that on the way back my car started ticking really bad. My car has had issues of exhaust leaks but this is not the case.(valvetrain for sure) I don't want to baby it home to Roanoke in fear that it will cause even more damage. Can someone point me in the right direction to a performance garage in Harrisonburg that could help me pin down the problem and possible fix it. I don't have the tools or the garage here in Harrisonburg to do it myself.
Thanks Guys

Not familiar with the 5.0s, but arent they cam in block pushrod motors? Someone correct me? It would be really easy to work on and diagnose. I would suggest looking around for not performance garages, but american or hot rod garages. Performance Auto Sport in Richmond would be my go to but that is farther away than you want.
If it is ticking really bad, most likely just a bad spring or lifter (luckily most don't do further damage).

Shouldn't need too much to pop your valve covers and take a look underneath, but I would suggest giving Jason a call. He went to NTI, I'm pretty sure he'll give you a more honest and more thorough analysis than any "Speed Shop" but you'll need to work around his schedule. IM me if you want his info, I'll send him this thread.

PM me. I live in Winchester but I'll be in town Friday night with access to a garage. I'd be glad to take a peek at it for you.

Thanks for the timely reply but I knew a guy not far away that is taking look. In order to take off the valve covers you have to take off the intake and I dont have the tool at school. So hopefully it's just a rocker that came loose. I will keep everyone posted as soon as I get more information.
As I suspected.... A polylock holding the roller rocker backed out on me. Drives me nuts that I had to paid someone $75 an hour to do something that I could have done.
At least it wasn't something serious. I'd pay $75 vs a rebuild.
I've got some tools and a garage, welcome to them if you ever need to check something out.
Thanks man and Taylor I said $75per hour.... I wish it was $75
Who in town did you take it to that charged you $75/hr? Yikes.
Guy up the street.. I called a local machine shop in town and asked him to point me in the right direction to a guy that knows his way around high performance pushrod engines and thats where I ended up. He relashed all the roller rockers and It runs great now.
You're also welcome to the MM garage, don't forget it exist haha

I know a guy in Broadway (about 25 minutes away) that charges 40 or 45 an hour, can't remember. He worked in a machine shop for about 15 years and has built plenty of performance motors over the years (especially old fords). If you ever need that kind of work, let me know and I can give you his information.
