Anthony Manno running for club treasurer
#1
Hey everyone I know I don’t talk that much on the forum so I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Anthony, I am a sophomore accounting major and I would like to run for club treasurer.

I drive a blue kia forte koup and I’ve been in MM for both years that I have been at JMU. I went to literally everything my freshman year so you’ve probably seen me last year or sometime this year. I am very organized and good at managing money, hence the major. The two biggest things I want to improve is the timeliness of decisions to do things and increasing our funds. We could possibly work on setting things up at least a work or two in advance so people know when the events are and schedule around them. We could also look up dates at the beginning of the semester pick a few days at the drag strip or wherever and send an email out to everyone seeing their availability for different days. Doodle works amazing when it comes that stuff and takes five seconds to check a box. Just an idea. The other thing is club funds. We are broke 95% of the time. When we discussed the car show I noticed that a lot of things weren’t possible because we didn’t have the money. I noticed we didn’t sell many autocross shirts. I was thinking we could make annual car show shirts rather than the auto x ones. We can also look into putting sponsors on the back of the car show shirts or the regular shirts members have since there is nothing on the backs of them anyways. Then of course we would continue with the raffles and things we did this year.

Other smaller things. We could always have more social events. Like Kline’s cruises, dinners, whatever, just to get the members out to meet with each other. Other than that I think the officers all did a great job this year and I look forward to another successful year.

Yes preparation in advance. Great idea about the car show shirts instead of the auto-x shirts. Sponsors would be a good idea to help with fundraising. We really need to start fundraising next year so we can do more things

I'm going to be the spiker of ideas here... but we didn't print the auto-x shirts for the car show they were just left over and we were trying to clear inventory. We sold all together maybe 10 shirts. For us to make money we need to print more than that and on top of that we don't have money to burn on something that may or may not sell. If we did preorders ahead of time then that's a different story but good luck getting people on board with that. I agree with fundraising but I don't know if that will work for us.

I know they were left overs that's why I was thinking we do car show shirts instead of auto x shirts because they those aren't selling at all. We were practically begging people to buy them. We can do a poll with everyone else to see if they think car show shirts will be more popular than the auto x. If we only sold ten this year I don't think it would hurt us to try and switch over . For fundraising Ryan mentioned car washes and bake sales as possible ideas as well. I think those can be successful if we get people to come out.

If anything we could bring it up here and have people post up what they think of the idea and if we get positive feedback we can consider changing
