Well since everyone else is posting their weekend in review, I might as well throw one out from a n00bs perspective. This was my first full track weekend and virgin trip to the holy land which is that of VIR. I had an awesome time and will definitely be back for more fun next season if not in November at Summit.
I'll start of with Friday evening/night. Made my way down to VIR around 4:30, unloaded my shit and whipped down to the paddock to drop Trevor off for class and see which MMers I could find roaming the paddock. Said hey to a few people and then proceeded to wipe the brand new VBD e46 down for a photoshoot on track with a few other customer cars. Driving an f350 with a photographer hanging out of the bed around Oak Tree and down the back stree was an odd feeling to say the least. I hit a whopping 25 mph. Here are a few shots I took with my iPhone. Hopefully in the next few days I will have the edited shots from the real camera.
And a few pictures of the track
The weekend was awesome. For myself and VBD is proved great as well. The car was very well received and foot traffic to our trailer was outrageous. I went out for a ride along with Trevor and even with a busted control arm bushing felt 143 mph on the back straight. I can't wait to do a hyperdrive and get into HPDEs!
Big thanks to Jake for taking me out in the pace car, the NASA crew for putting on a great event (and hooking me up with lunch, sorry about the trail of pickle juice on the floor-blame that on Doug for requesting extra pickles), and DJ for providing the e46 with an oil cap after we mysteriously lost ours somewhere on track, woops.
And a big shout out to the bonehead instructor who blew an oil line with me in the car and proceeded to climb the esses and then go off around Oak Tree. Thanks for not killing me, but nice job ruining the last session of the day Saturday.
All in all a great weekend. Can't wait for next season!
