Our Philips 47 is about 2 yrs and the Vizio 37 is going on a year and both still look great with no probs. Been using Amazon reviews more and more for purchases and so far so good...
I don't know if Philips is a big competitor in the market or anything, but it was next to the Sony's at Costco when we bought it. Picture was comparable with them and it was something like $300-400 less.
Interesting comment about the 3D and 'football". The camera has to take such a wide view that it would seem a waste. :dunno:

I have a little bit of a rub near lock but if you are turned to lock on a track there are other problems already...

just stick the the reviews, display TVs are only useful for comparing menu functions and features. Unless some store clerk has taken the time to set them up (won't happen), then you'll just end up "liking" the one that happens to have the brightness and sharpness turned up to ludicrous values.

Excellent point. I guess I have to stop being lazy and get back to reading reviews. I don't think I'm going to get one until Saturday anyway, so I've got plenty of time.
